- Scope of Bereaved Families or Families : Parents, spouses, and children (Provided, that for persons of distinguished service to independence, grandsons and granddaughters shall be included)
- Cases where bereaved families and other families are excluded from the reduction : Founding members of the armed forces, veterans discharged from long-term military service, and war veterans themselves are beneficiaries of the reduction, but their families are not covered by it.
- Items excluded from the reduction : Blood transfusion charges, fees for issuance of medical certificates, fees for medical supplies, dental prosthetic materials and assistive devices, and charges for higher-level hospital rooms
- Treatment at a reduced rate is available after registration with the Patriots and Veterans Affairs.
