Who Can Volunteer

Adults and youth who wish to engage in ongoing volunteer activities

Volunteer Recruitment

  • Adults: Recruitment is open year-round; walk-in and phone applications are welcome
  • Youth: Recruitment is held during summer (August) and winter (January) school vacations

Volunteer Activity Hours

Regular service once a week, 3 hours per session

  • Morning volunteer hours: 9:00 AM – 12:00 PM
  • Afternoon volunteer hours: 1:30 PM – 4:30 PM

Volunteer Application and Participation Process

Adult Volunteers

  • Individuals or groups interested in volunteering may apply by phone or in person at the Social Work Office
  • After the application, a social worker will conduct a consultation to determine the volunteer’s area of activity and schedule
  • Volunteers will attend a basic orientation session and complete an application form
  • Volunteer activities begin on the assigned day and time
  • Volunteers are encouraged to participate in in-hospital training sessions and team-building events

Youth Volunteers

  • Recruitment announcements for youth volunteers are posted on the hospital website before the summer and winter breaks
  • Applications are accepted through the 1365 Volunteer Service System on a first-come, first-served basis (registration may close early)
  • On the day of volunteering, participants must visit the Social Work Office by 9:00 AM for an activity assignment
  • Volunteer certificates can be individually printed and verified for each student

Volunteer Activity Areas

  • Guidance and assistance in Radiology and outpatient clinics, Endoscopy Unit, Pharmacy, Linen Room, and Central Supply Room
  • Bathing assistance for patients in general and long-term care wards
  • Support for Social Work Office programs and events
  • Assistance with exercise therapy in the Rehabilitation Gym
