What is Medical Expense Support?

Financial support for patients who face difficulties in paying for necessary medical treatment

  • How to Receive Support
    • External Resource Support: Coordination with local government offices, county, or district offices, the Community Chest of Korea, and various social welfare organizations for support
    • Internal Fund Support: Assistance with small medical expenses using donations collected through the hospital’s own social welfare fund, when external support is unavailable
  • Eligibility for Support: Recipients of the National Basic Livelihood Security Program, beneficiaries of the reduced co-payment program for low-income households, and other low-income individuals
  • Scope of Support
    • External Resource Support: Limited to medical expenses only; the amount of support is determined according to the criteria of the supporting organization
    • Internal Fund Support: Medical expenses of KRW 500,000 or less

      Costs for medical equipment, nursing care, and other consumable supplies are not eligible for support

Application Procedure

  • Assessment of eligibility

    (Social work counseling)
  • Application for support

    (Social Work Office → Relevant Supporting Organization)
  • Review of application form and required documents

    (Supporting Organization)
  • Notification of approval

    (Supporting Organization → Social Work Office)
  • Discharge after cost settlement

    (Patient)
  • Request for payment

    (Social Work Office → Supporting Organization)
  • Deposit of medical expense

    (Supporting Organization → Administration Office’s bank account)

What is Free Caregiver Support?

A program that provides free caregiving services for a certain period to patients who have no family or whose families are unable to provide adequate care

  • How to Receive Support
    • Free caregiver support through the Dasomi Foundation, a social enterprise
    • Free caregiver support through local administrative welfare centers
  • Eligibility for Support: Patients eligible for Medical Aid Type 1 or Type 2, low-income groups, and hospice patients who have difficulty receiving adequate care from their families
  • Support Period
    • Free caregiver support by the Dasomi Foundation: Recommendation: Once a month; support period limited to two weeks (14 days)
    • Free caregiver support by local administrative welfare centers: In accordance with the caregiving support standards of Gwangsan-gu, where our hospital is located

Application Procedure

  • Social worker consultation

  • Submission of free caregiver request form to the relevant organization

  • Review and notification of approved beneficiaries

  • Start free caregiving service
