Those who served in the Vietnam War between July 18, 1964, and March 23, 1973, as soldiers or civilian military personnel under the Military Service Act, the Military Personnel Management Act, or the Act on the Personnel Management of Civilian Military Employee, in areas where defoliants were sprayed, and who have since been discharged or retired, as well as journalists who, with government approval, accompanied military units or operations during combat, and who suffer from diseases specified in Article 5, Paragraphs 1 and 2 of the Act on Assistance to Patients Suffering from Actual or Potential Aftereffects of Defoliants and Establishment of Related Organizations
Those who served or participated in defoliants spraying operations in areas adjacent to the Southern Limit Line between October 9, 1967, and January 31, 1972, as soldiers or civilian military personnel under the Military Service Act, the Military Personnel Management Act, or the Act on the Personnel Management of Civilian Military Employee, and who have since been discharged or retired, and who suffer from diseases specified in Article 5, Paragraphs 1 and 2 of the same Act
Those who have been determined and registered, under Articles 4 and 7 of this Act, as persons subject to the Act due to having a disease listed in each subparagraph of Article 5, Paragraph 1, and the children of those recognized under Article 8 as deceased patients suffering from actual aftereffects of defoliants, who were conceived and born during the parent’s period of military service and has developed a disease corresponding to Article 5, Paragraph 6 of this Act
A person who has died because of a disease prescribed in Article 5, Paragraph 1 of the Act
Those who have been classified as having severe, moderate, or mild aftereffects (or potential aftereffects) of exposure to defoliants are eligible for full medical expenses covered by the national treasury, but their family members are excluded from fee reduction benefits.
