Soldier or police official wounded in action | A soldier or police officer who, while performing combat or equivalent duties, sustained an injury or disability and was discharged or retired, and whose injury or disability was rated as Grade 1 to 7 in a physical examination conducted by the Minister of Patriots and Veterans Affairs |
Soldiers or police officials wounded on active duty | A soldier or police officer who, during training or the performance of duties, sustained an injury or disability (including occupational disease), was discharged or retired, and whose injury or disability was rated as Grade 1 to 7 in a physical examination conducted by the Minister of Patriots and Veterans Affairs |
Persons wounded in the April 19 Revolution | A person who participated in the revolution around April 19, 1960, sustained an injury or disability, and whose injury or disability was rated as Grade 1 to 7 in a physical examination conducted by the Minister of Patriots and Veterans Affairs |
Public officials wounded on active duty | A person who, under Article 2 of the State Public Officials Act and Article 2 of the Local Public Officials Act (excluding military personnel and police officers), or an employee prescribed by Presidential Decree who regularly engages in public duties for the state or a local government, sustained an injury or disease, and whose degree of disability has been determined to be Grade 1 through Grade 7 according to a physical examination conducted by the Minister of Patriots and Veterans Affairs. |
Special contributor to national and social development | Among those who have made significant contributions to national and social development: those who died in the line of duty related to such contributions, those who sustained injuries, and those designated by the Cabinet as eligible under this Act for their contributions (in the case of injured individuals, whose disability is assessed by the Minister of Patriots and Veterans Affairs and rated as Grade 1 to 7) |
June 18 Wounded Freedom Seekers | Individuals who, as North Korean military personnel or government officials, were taken prisoner by the Republic of Korea or UN forces between June 25, 1950, and July 23, 1953, and who have been designated as June·18 Wounded Freedom Seekers by the Veterans Review Board |
Soldier or police official wounded by disaster | A person who, while serving as a member of the military or as a police or firefighting officer, sustained an injury or disease not directly related to national defense, security, or the protection of the lives and property of citizens during the performance of duties or training, and who was discharged or retired as a result, and whose degree of disability has been determined to be Grade 1 through Grade 7 according to a physical examination conducted by the Minister of Patriots and Veterans Affairs |
Public official wounded by disaster | A person who, under Article 2 of the State Public Officials Act or Article 2 of the Local Public Officials Act (excluding military personnel and police officers), or an employee prescribed by Presidential Decree who regularly engages in public duties for the state or a local government, sustained an injury or disease not directly related to the protection of the lives or property of citizens during the performance of official duties or training, retired as a result, and whose degree of disability has been determined to be Grade 1 through Grade 7 according to a physical examination conducted by the Minister of Patriots and Veterans Affairs |
Veteran with a minor injury | A service member who sustained a combat, duty-related, or accident-related injury and was classified as “unclassified” according to a physical examination conducted by the Minister of Patriots and Veterans Affairs |
Person of distinguished service to the May 18 Democratization Movement | A person who sustained an injury related to the May 18 Democratization Movement or suffers from a disease resulting from the May 18 Democratization Movement, and who has been classified as having a disability of Grade 1 through Grade 14 and received compensation in accordance with the Act on Compensation, etc. for Persons Related to the May 18 Democratization Movement |
Person injured in the course of performing a special mission | A person who sustained injuries or contracted a disease as a result of performing a special mission or related training, and whose degree of physical disability, as determined by the medical examination conducted by the Minister of Patriots and Veterans Affairs, corresponds to a disability grade under Article 6-4 of the Act on the Honorable Treatment and Support of Persons of Distinguished Service to the State |
