This is a guide to using the Emergency room at the VHS Daejeon Hospital.
The VHS Daejeon Hospital is committed to providing high-quality emergency care using advanced medical equipment and modern facilities.

Open 24 hours a day, year-round.

Emergency Room

Daytime: Admissions & Billing Desk, Patient Services Desk (1st Floor)

Nighttime: Registration and payment are handled at the Emergency Room night counter.

  1. Initial Assessment : Emergency Treatment Decision
  2. Emergency Treatment : Assessment of Need
    1. Registration : Health Insurance Card or valid ID
    2. Consultation and Examination : Health Insurance Card or valid ID
    3. Discharge Decision : Observation, or admission/home return.

Emergency Room On-Call Specialist Departments : Internal Medicine, Psychiatry, Neurology, General Surgery, Neurosurgery, Orthopedic Surgery, and Anesthesiology & Pain Medicine.

Article 2, Paragraph 1 of the Emergency Medical Service Act : “An emergency patient” refers to a person who, due to illness, childbirth, injury, or disaster, requires immediate emergency treatment to preserve life or prevent serious harm to physical or mental health.

Emergency Symptoms

  • Neurological emergencies : Sudden loss of consciousness, acute neurological symptoms, or head injuries accompanied by vomiting or altering consciousness.
  • Cardiovascular emergencies : Cardiac arrest requiring CPR, acute respiratory distress, chest pain caused by heart disease, palpitations, arrhythmia, or shock.

Symptoms considered as semi-emergencies

  • Neurological emergencies : Loss of consciousness.
  • Cardiovascular emergencies : Shortness of breath.

Emergency Care Management Fee

In accordance with the Ministry of Health and Welfare directive (April 1, 2000), all patients visiting the Emergency Room are charged an emergency management fee.
Patients whose conditions are determined to be non-emergency are responsible for the full payment of this fee.
