We are always here for our patients and their families.
The Department of Medical Social Work at the VHS Daegu Hospital is dedicated to being your trusted partner in care.
The Department of Social Welfare at the VHS Daegu Hospital assigns professionally trained medical social workers, in accordance with Article 38 (2) 6 of the Enforcement Rule of the Healthcare Service Act. These professionals work closely with the medical team to help outpatients, inpatients, and their families address psychological, emotional, and social rehabilitation issues.
Medical Social workers provide professional services that support patients in maintaining stable daily lives—from disease prevention before hospitalization to post-discharge follow-up and social reintegration. They support patients not only during hospitalization but throughout the entire continuum of care.
Medical social work services are professional interventions that apply social work knowledge, values, and skills within the healthcare setting.
They aim to enhance treatment outcomes and facilitate rehabilitation and social reintegration by addressing the psychological, social, emotional, economic, environmental, and medical challenges (including admission, discharge, and rehabilitation) faced by patients and their families. These services involve support, coordination, and preventive efforts to promote holistic care and recovery.
