Overview of Reduced-Fee Consignment

In regions where no VHS Hospital is available or where one is too distant, private hospitals are designated and operated as consignment hospitals to enable persons of distinguished service to the state and their families to conveniently receive medical services at nearby institutions.

Reduced-Fee Consignment Treatment Eligibility (For National Health Insurance Subscribers)	Eligible Persons under the Independence Merit Law and the National Merit Law Under Article 5 of the Independence Merit Law: Family members or descendants of independence patriots. Under Article 4 of the National Merit Law: Clause 7: Recipients of Military Merit Medals Clause 8: Recipients of National Service Merit Medals Clause 9: Korean War Volunteer Soldiers in Japan Clause 13: Contributors to the April 19 Revolution Clause 18: Persons with special national contributions to social development Under Articles 5 and 73 of the National Merit Law: Family members or descendants of persons of distinguished service to the state. Recipients of the Korean War Fallen Soldiers’ Child Allowance under Article 16-3(1). Highest-ranking family member under Article 17(6) of the Independence Merit Law. Spouses under Article 51(6) of the Act on Support for Persons Eligible for Veterans’ Compensation.

Reduced-Fee Eligibility for Veterans Registered after July 1, 2012

Persons of Distinguished Service to the State: One highest-ranking family member among the spouse or surviving family (if the designated guardian is a parent, one family member may be selected by mutual agreement).
Recipients of Persons of Distinguished Service to the State Benefits: Only the spouse is designated as the highest-ranking surviving family member.

Scope of Reduced-Fee Consignment Support

Covers 60% of the out-of-pocket medical expenses (excluding the insurer’s share) up to a maximum of KRW 2,000,000 for inpatient care. For veterans of the Korean War, the reduction rate is 90%.

How to Use a Consignment Hospital

Visit a designated consignment hospital, present your Persons of Distinguished Service to the State ID Card or Resident Registration Card to verify your eligibility, and receive medical treatment.
