Persons who served in the Vietnam War between July 18, 1964, and March 23, 1973, as soldiers or civilian employees under the Military Service Act, the Military Personnel Act, or the Civilian Military Personnel Act, who were stationed in Agent Orange-sprayed areas and later discharged or retired; and journalists who, with government approval, accompanied combat or military operations and developed diseases specified under Article 5 of the Act on the Support for Agent Orange Aftereffects Patients, etc.
Persons who served as soldiers or civilian military personnel under the same Acts between October 9, 1967, and July 31, 1970, in areas adjacent to the southern boundary of the Korean Demilitarized Zone (as designated by the Ministry of National Defense), or who participated in herbicide-spraying operations involving dioxin, and later retired or were discharged, having developed diseases specified under Article 5 of the same Act.
Children conceived during their parent’s service period and born with diseases specified under Article 5(6) of the Act, whose parents were either registered Agent Orange aftereffect patients (under Articles 4, 5, and 7) or recognized posthumously as such under Article 8.

Persons rated Severe, Moderate, or Mild for Agent Orange aftereffects are fully eligible for government-funded medical treatment. Family members are not eligible for cost reduction benefits.
