Overview of Reduced-Fee Consignment

In regions where no VHS Hospital is available or where one is too distant, private hospitals are designated and operated as consignment hospitals to enable persons of distinguished service to the state and their families to conveniently receive medical services at nearby institutions.

60% Discount (Age 75 and Older) – Medication Not Covered	Bereaved family members of Independence Patriots under Article 5 of the Act on the Honorable Treatment of Independence Patriots 「In cases where only one priority beneficiary exists under Article 12(1)2–4 of the Act on the Honorable Treatment of Persons of Distinguished Service to the State, if that beneficiary is a parent as defined in Article 13(2)3, one representative may be designated by agreement. Matters regarding such agreements or designations are defined by Presidential Decree. Includes bereaved families of fallen or deceased military and police personnel, 4·19 Revolution martyrs, and those of special service merit awardees, as well as families of deceased or injured military and public officials with priority beneficiary status. Recipients of the Child Allowance for Fallen Soldiers of the Korean War under Article 16-3(1) of the Act on the Honorable Treatment of Persons of Distinguished Service to the State Spouses aged 75 or older eligible for benefits under Article 51(6) of the Act on the Support for Persons Eligible for Veterans’ Compensation Includes spouses of disaster-related deceased military personnel receiving compensation under Article 11(1)2 and spouses of deceased disaster-injured veterans receiving compensation under Article 11(1)3 of the same Act.

Scope of Discounted Commissioned Treatment Support

60% of the patient’s copayment after insurance coverage (90% for Korean War veterans)
Hospitalization limited to 30 days (90 days for nursing hospitals)
Maximum treatment cost: 2 million KRW (beyond that, governed by medical aid regulations)

Excludes 100% non-covered medical expenses from the discount range.

For Veterans of Participation in War, Korean War Volunteer Student Soldiers in Japan, and Recipients of Military Merit Medals, Medication costs must be paid in full on site and later reimbursed through the post-payment reimbursement system operated by the relevant Veterans Affairs Office. (Annual reimbursement limit for medication costs: Veterans of Participation in War / Korean War Volunteer Student Soldiers in Japan: 252,000 KRW Recipients of Military Merit Medals: 160,000 KRW)

Visit the designated hospital, present your National Merit ID Card or Resident Registration Card to verify your eligibility as a government-funded patient, and receive medical treatment.
