Article 2, Paragraph 1, Emergency Medical Service Act : An “emergency patient” refers to a person who, due to illness, childbirth, injury from an accident or disaster, or any other critical condition, is determined to require immediate emergency treatment to preserve life or prevent serious harm to physical or mental health.

Neurological Emergencies

  • Acute loss of consciousness
  • Acute neurological abnormalities
  • Head trauma with vomiting or loss of consciousness

Cardiovascular Emergencies

  • Conditions requiring CPR
  • Acute respiratory distress
  • Acute chest pain due to cardiac disease
  • Palpitations
  • Arrhythmia and shock

Poisoning and Metabolic Disorders

  • Severe dehydration
  • Drug, alcohol, or substance overdose or poisoning
  • Acute metabolic disorders (hepatic failure, renal failure, diabetes, etc.)

Surgical

  • Acute abdomen requiring surgery (e.g., peritonitis, bowel obstruction, acute pancreatitis)
  • Extensive burns (≥18% body surface)
  • Penetrating injuries
  • Open or multiple fractures, or femoral/spinal fractures
  • Vascular injuries threatening limb viability
  • Severe trauma requiring emergency surgery under general anesthesia
  • Multiple trauma

Pediatric Emergencies

  • High fever over 38°C in children (under 8 years old, particularly during nights or holidays when medical service access is limited)

Emergency Symptoms Caused by Foreign Bodies

  • Cases requiring removal of foreign objects from ear, eye, nose, or anus

Emergency Care Management Fee Notice

According to the Ministry of Health and Welfare Notice (2000. 4. 1), all patients visiting this hospital’s Emergency Department are charged an Emergency Medical Management Fee. Non-emergency patients must pay this fee in full.
