About VHS Medical Center

  • This is a general hospital with more than 1,400 beds, established under the Korea Veterans Health Service to provide medical and rehabilitation services to persons of distinguished service to the state and their families, who have dedicated themselves to the nation.
  • Together with the VHS Hospitals in Seoul, Busan, Gwangju, Daegu, and Daejeon, we have established a nationwide veterans’ healthcare network and are dedicated to improving the health of both persons of distinguished service to the state and the general public.
  • To provide high-quality medical services, we operate a Rehabilitation Medical Center and an Orthotic & Prosthetic Center equipped with advanced medical facilities and specialized equipment for restoring and maintaining the physical functions of persons of distinguished service to the state.
2000 – 1991
  • Nov. 1985 Renamed as the Korea Veterans Welfare Corporation Hospital under the newly established Korea Veterans Health Service
  • Aug. 1983 Relocated and newly constructed the Korea Veterans Hospital (440 beds) in Dunchon-dong, Gangdong-gu, Seoul
  • Nov. 1981 Enacted the Korea Veterans Welfare Corporation Act and established the Corporation as a special legal entity
  • Aug. 1974 Upgraded to a general hospital and began providing general medical services
  • Jul. 1961 Established as the National Veterans Hospital under the Veterans Affairs Office (Oryu-dong, Guro-gu, Seoul)
  • Feb. 1953 Founded as the Daegu No. 2 Relief Hospital under the Ministry of Health and Social Affairs (Presidential Decree No. 65)
