The VHS Medical Center traces its origins to the Daegu Second Relief Hospital, established in February 1953 during the Korean War. Since then, it relocated to Dunchon-dong, Gangdong-gu, in August 1983 and reopened as the newly constructed VHS Medical Center in September 2011. For over 70 years, it has served as a public medical institution dedicated to the care and health of veterans and their families.
The VHS Medical Center has established an integrated medical and welfare system that provides comprehensive services ranging from treatment and rehabilitation to long-term and home care. It operates nine specialized medical centers, including a state-of-the-art Robotic Surgery Center, and contributes to the improvement of public healthcare and infectious disease prevention for veterans and residents through the operation of residential treatment and infectious disease response centers.
The VHS Medical Center will continue to enhance its medical services to the level of a tertiary general hospital and provide comfortable facilities, ensuring that persons of distinguished service to the state and the general public receive the highest quality healthcare.
All staff at the VHS Medical Center will devote themselves wholeheartedly to becoming a hospital that continues to earn the trust veterans and the public. We sincerely ask for the continued interest and support of veterans’ families and the wider community.
