VHS Gwangju Hospital was established in 1987 in Juwol-dong, Nam-gu, Gwangju, with 120 beds to provide medical care for persons of distinguished service to the state in the Honam region. The hospital has continued to grow and develop with the support and trust of persons of distinguished service to the state and local residents. Today, it is located in the Cheomdan District of Gwangsan-gu on a spacious and pleasant site covering approximately 76,000 square meters. The hospital now boasts top-tier facilities with 600 beds, state-of-the-art medical equipment, and a team of specialists across 21 medical departments. They are dedicated to providing the best possible care and promoting the health of persons of distinguished service to the state, their families, and the local community in the Honam region.

As a training hospital for medical residents, it also plays a central role in education and research by producing outstanding medical professionals every year and contributing to the development of local talent in the region.
