The Cancer Center at the VHS Medical Center was established in November 2012 to provide
systematic and personalized treatment for cancer patients, considering the increasing incidence of cancer in the aging veteran population, among whom have multiple underlying diseases.
The center operates 13
specialized sub-centers for each type of cancer, including colorectal, lung, and gastric cancers. Each
sub-center has established a multidisciplinary integrated care system composed of specialists from various
medical departments.
Our center received the highest “Grade 1” rating in the adequacy evaluations for
the four major cancers: colorectal, breast, lung, and gastric cancers. Since September 2016, we have
operated a Fast Track system to conduct examinations for new patients as quickly as possible, ensuring that
optimal treatment can be provided in a timely manner.
In addition, we provide prompt diagnosis and
personalized treatment through our multidisciplinary integrated care system.
At the Cancer Center,
oncology nurse specialists are available on-site to provide counseling for cancer patients and their
families, guiding them to receive prompt and convenient medical services. They also offer education and
counseling on appropriate cancer treatment processes and self-care methods to maximize treatment
effectiveness and improve patients’ quality of life.
We are committed to providing the best possible
medical services to veteran cancer patients and their families.
Thank you.
