Personal Speech Amplifier
- A personal speech amplifier is a speech-generating device used when vocal cord vibration is impossible due to removal of the larynx, making it difficult or impossible to produce a voice.
- The user places the device against the area beneath the jaw, the neck, or the cheek, activates the device to produce mechanical vibrations, and then shapes these vibrations with the articulators to generate speech.
- Although the generated voice has a mechanical tone, the user can independently produce words and sentences using the movements of the mouth and tongue.
