Introduction

The Research and Development Division of the Prosthetics & Orthotics Center at the VHS Medical Center conducts systematic research and development in the field of assistive and rehabilitation devices, aiming to improve the health and quality of life of persons of distinguished service to the state and persons with disabilities, and further contributing to the enhancement of the nation’s medical welfare standards.
With the aging population and the increasing prevalence of disabilities, the importance of practical, clinically focused rehabilitation research and the development of assistive technologies is growing day by day.
In response to these societal needs, the Prosthetics & Orthotics Center is conducting pioneering research across various areas, including rehabilitation therapy and the development of orthotic technologies for disability prevention.
