To promote human health, new approaches are needed to effectively translate the knowledge, mechanisms, and techniques gained from basic scientific research into the prevention, diagnosis, and treatment of human diseases. Our research team conducts “bench-to-bedside” studies that translate basic research findings on diseases at the molecular and cellular levels into clinically applicable therapies—such as new drugs, medical devices, and diagnostic or therapeutic technologies—as well as “bedside-to-bench” studies, in which novel clinical observations inspire further basic research.
Through translational research on chronic diseases associated with aging, we aim to provide clinical researchers with new tools applicable to patient care and methods to evaluate their effectiveness. By incorporating clinical researchers’ new observations and ideas on disease characteristics and progression into translational research, we strive to generate research outcomes that can be applied in clinical practice.
