Hospice and Palliative Care

This is a medical service in which hospice and palliative care professionals, including doctors, nurses, and social workers, work as a team to actively manage the physical symptoms of patients with life-threatening illnesses and to help terminal patients and their families cope with psychological, social, and spiritual difficulties. The goal is to alleviate their suffering and improve their quality of life.

Types of Hospice and Palliative Care Services

Inpatient Hospice
This is a service aimed at terminal cancer patients provided in a hospice ward under a hospice specialized institution designated by the Ministry of Health and Welfare, where patients and families who wish to receive hospice services can utilize the service.
Home Hospice
This is a hospice home-visit service provided by hospice-specialized institutions designated by the Ministry of Health and Welfare, available for terminal patients and their families who wish to receive hospice care in their own homes.
Consultative Hospice
This is a hospice service provided by a specialized hospice institution designated by the Ministry of Health and Welfare, allowing terminal patients and families who wish to receive hospice services to utilize them in a general ward or outpatient setting while receiving treatment from the medical team responsible for their illness.
Pediatric Palliative Care
This is an integrated medical service that alleviates various physical, psychological, and social difficulties, such as symptoms, discomfort, and stress experienced by pediatric patients and families undergoing treatment for life-threatening illnesses, contributing to an improved quality of life.
