1999 – Present

2024Participated in the evaluation and on-site training for newly designated specialized hospice institutions
2023Conducted a hospice and palliative care education camp for nursing college professors in real clinical settings
2022Designated as a consultative specialized hospice and palliative care institution
2021Conducted an internal research project on end-of-life care clinical pathways (CP)
2020Launched the Hospice and Palliative Care Center website;
Designated as a home-based hospice specialized institution
2019Held mandatory education programs for home-based and consultative hospice and conducted institutional practicums for course participants;
Provided training for participants in standard education and e-learning institutional practicums;
Celebrated the 20th anniversary of the Hospice and Palliative Care Center, VHS Medical Center
2018 Re-designated as a specialized hospice institution by the Ministry of Health and Welfare under the Act on Hospice and Palliative Care and Decisions on Life-Sustaining Treatment for Patients at the End of Life;
Expanded end-of-life care rooms (added 2 rooms);
Converted 36 hospice assistant staff to full-time positions;
Implemented pilot projects for home-based and consultative hospice services;
Extended palliative care clinic hours (Monday, Thursday, and Friday afternoons);
Signed an agreement with the National Cancer Center for the e-learning hospice training program institutional practicum
2017Renovated the specialized hospice and palliative care ward (room interiors and anti-slip bathroom construction) and opened a single-patient room (1 bed);
Launched the Hospice Aid Association (Sanarae Hospice);
Recruited supporters and provided assistance to bereaved families;
Designated as a Regional Hospice Center
2016Held the first standard education program for specialized hospice and palliative care personnel;
Implemented the palliative care assistant program and conducted practical training for assistants;
Launched an in-house home hospice service for persons of distinguished service to the state
2015Relocated the VHS Medical Center acute care ward;
Operated a hospice and palliative care ward under the Family Medicine Department (28 beds);
Designated as a specialized hospice and palliative care institution by the Ministry of Health and Welfare;
Offered service programs such as aromatherapy, art therapy, and gentle exercise;
Opened the palliative care clinic (afternoon consultations on Monday and Thursday)
2014Relocated the hospice and palliative care ward at the VHS Medical Center (33 beds)
2012Selected by the Ministry of Health and Welfare as a research institution for the PCT palliative care pilot project;
Operated a hospice ward (24 beds)
2007Graduated the first cohort of specialized hospice nurses;
Held the first “Day of Remembrance”
2005Held monthly lectures for cancer patients and their families, delivered by multidisciplinary teams from various specialties
2003Established the Hospice Operations Committee;
Expanded hospice services in collaboration with the Home Nursing Service Team
2001Formed a multidisciplinary hospice team including physicians, nurses, dietitians, clergy, and social workers, and launched hospice programs;
Opened one four-bed room, one single-patient room, and one end-of-life care room;
Held the first bereaved family event (visit to the National Cemetery)
2000Established the Hospice Program Office;
Operated occupational accident-related hospice services;
Conducted the 1st hospice volunteer training program
1999Began hospice activities under the Nursing Department with support from local religious organizations
